Grandmaster Brad Shipp Hosts Zoom Seminar for Short Stick & Basic Chun Kuhn Taekwondo Patterns
On February 6, 2021, Grandmaster Brad Shipp, President of the World Chun Kuhn Taekwondo Federation, hosted an online Zoom seminar to introduce attendees to Chun Kuhn Taekwondo. Supreme Master Bok Man Kim, legendary Taekwon-do pioneer and Father of Taekwondo in Southeast Asia, also appeared during the seminar to answer questions from attendees. Supreme Master Kim is also the Founder of the World Chun Kuhn Taekwondo Federation, and was a founding member of the International Taekwon-do Federation, or ITF, in 1966.
Titled “Short Stick Defense & Basic Patterns: One World, One TKD,” the seminar was organized and promoted by Grandmaster Gary Tong of Malaysia, who was promoted by Supreme Master Kim to 9th Dan in early January.
The hour-long seminar featured defenses against the short stick and demonstrated the white belt and black belt hyungs, or patterns, of Chun Kuhn Taekwondo. The short stick was chosen for the seminar due to covid lockdown restrictions and space available in the homes of those who attended. Also shown were the short stick basic pattern and how to hold the short stick.
Grandmaster Shipp via Zoom taught more than 50 attendees from Malaysia, the United States, Argentina, United Kingdom, Philippines, Ethiopia, Hong Kong and Singapore. Many were new to Chun Kuhn Taekwondo. The seminar was open to all Taekwondo practitioners age 16 and older, blue belt and above.
Grandmaster Tong noted, “All attendees are happy with this online short introduction seminar conducted by Grandmaster Brad Shipp.” Grandmaster Tong was assisted by Sabum Chen from Ohdokwan Taekwondo Malaysia.
